As an offshoot of prior research, we have put together a set of Stata scripts which prepare PSID family data files for processing through the TAXSIM program, covering 1968 to 2011. We would like to share these materials with other researchers, and have attached two different versions of the files which might be helpful: 1. A zip file of Stata scripts (TAXSIM_Scripts.zip) which includes a .do file for each year of PSID data between 1968 and 2011. These scripts rename and clean the PSID data and then call Taxsim9 in Stata. They are designed to work with the entire PSID family data file for each year. 2. An excel file (Taxsim_Code_Gen.xlsm) which generates the attached script files. This excel file is setup so that users should be able to easily adjust inputs. For example, it allows users to select whether they want to drop any unused variables from data file or exclude any PSID variables from the calculations. TAXSIM has been indispensable for our research, and we hope that these materials will help other TAXSIM users working with PSID data. If there is anything else we can provide that would be helpful for this please let us know. Thank you, Margaret McKeehan
